Did you hear Tim Holtz has come up with a new 12 Tags plan? Now he's going to have a monthly series (The 12 Tags of 2012) instead of the annual holiday series (The 12 Tags of Christmas). I think it's brilliant! More people can play along since the projects will be spread throughout the year instead of all during December.
Tim started the series with Feb being a Valentine's tag. I'm just not in the mood to make any more Valentines, so I'm taking a spin at the technique with a decidely unromantic theme.
I used white paint on Tim's giant flourish stamp, then inked the tag with peeled paint distress ink, and edged everything with vintage photo distress ink and coffee archival ink.
I cut the letters, gear, and photo corner from Sizzix dies and brown cardstock. I cut the butterflies (Sizzix) out of Tim's Lost & Found papers. Edged them with brown distress ink, stacked, folded, and adhered with the Tiny Attacher (all the bottom ones that way, and then a bit of Multi Medium for the top one). I added some trinket pins and metal ideology washers and brads on the bottom. Dyed my ribbon with peeled paint distress stain.
Hope you like! I appreciate your coming by.

This is a compelling piece! LOVE the rich forest colors and 3-D butterflies. it's not a Valentine but it certainly is love-ly.

Oh my; that is one beautiful tag! The colors are stunning, and I love that you shared how you created it. Mixed Media Art intrigues me; if I didn't sew I would definitely try it! As it is, I love to live vicariously through the artists' blogs that I read.
