Today's page was a stretch, working with a palette decided by Art Journal Cafe and a photo that doesn't belong to me. The chosen colors were definitely outside my usual range but I'm glad I gave it a go.
To mix it up, I've joined my friend Nat Kalbach in her latest creative challenge ~ an art journaling project known as The Whatevers ~ Creative Storytelling. It's a year-long project that's just begun, and honestly, I'm having such a blast with my year-long Kate Crane project that I couldn't not jump on board with Nat.
I inked the page with distress inks and water before adding the new Dina Wakley stamps (stamped onto tissue paper) with gel medium. I printed The Whatevers' photo on tissue paper too, and adhered it the same way. Lots of stenciling, layering, fluid acrylics, watercolors, etc.
The Whatevers are to be named by each artist and a story made up about them, however long or short you like. This first month they are an old-time boy and girl posing for a formal portrait. I started out highlighting the 2s in my stamping but then went a different way with it.
I've named them Trixie and Tim and given them a very short story: "She felt a bit betrayed when Mum came home one day with him. Little did she know it would happen five more times."
Any resemblance to my eldest sister and brother is purely coincidental.
