Lori Rider is our hostess this week at Our Creative Corner, and she's offered up a photo as our inspiration for the week. Lori asks you to two take at least two elements of the photo, interpret them however you wish, and share in your post what they were.
I like it when we have photo challenges because there are loads of options to choose from (colors, textures, layout, etc.) and I really enjoy checking out the many different ways the design team interprets it. Today's no different ~ we have some very cool interpretations on the OCC site. Lori offered this photo for inspiration:
As I looked at it all week long, I kept being drawn to the branch in the background. And what goes better with brown than blue? The blue frosting on the cake led me to pair two of my favorite colors. I had a few ideas in mind and used my large Sizzix branch die twice but didn't like what I ended up with. Then I remembered my thin branches embossing folder and came up with this:
It photographed as if green, but the raised branch lines are actually a rich (coffee) brown archival ink. I used a Sizzix bookplate die to frame my sentiment and a Cuttlebugs embossing folder for the brances. A Hero stamp and a few brads finish it off.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you'll join us this week at Our Creative Corner. We are also having a design team call open through midnight on Monday, January 23rd. All entries are welcome. Details are on the home page.
Have a great day!
Marjie
How amazing to use the photo for inspiration and it shows the depth of your imagination to block out all the cakes, etc and pare it back to a beautiful, simplistic style which is anything but easy to pull off.
Stunning.

What a great challenge - I was also drawn to the twigs so I think your card is really appropriate!

I too, was drawn to the branches in the background. Isn't that funny, how folks got their inspiration from different aspects of the same photo? I love the branches and the blue. Very pretty and very appropriate!
hope you have a great week!
