Be careful what you wish for…. when I raised my hand to host today's Friday Focus over at Frilly and Funkie, I thought it would be a breeze because the product is Distress Stains by Ranger. I use them all the time, but in reality it was hard deciding how to showcase them, since there are dozens of ways to use them!
For the tag above, I used a combination of stains and water, heat set it, then stamped over with black archival ink. I also dyed the flowers and ribbon with the stains. You can see lots of demos from Tim Holtz on his blog as well as YouTube.
I realized I'd be blogging for days if I didn't figure out a way to streamline the samples, so I decided to go with a single color of Distress Stain (mustard seed) and show it on six different surfaces. Here they are unadorned - just one coat of mustard seed on six different papers:
Can you believe how different one product looks, based on the surface used? Here they are finished off:
All the details are on the Frilly and Funkie blog. The products featured in the Friday Focus are on sale for 15% off until the following Friday at The Funkie Junkie's Boutique. Products used are linked below.
Thanks for visiting! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Marjie, I love your samples! I don't have any distress stains but you really make me want some. Perhaps a few at a time. Thanks for the guide. Your tag is blended beautifully! As always.

What a great way to highlight what those stains can do! Your tag turned out great. I really like how the colors meshed together so evenly. Best wishes for a lovely Easter.
