The new challenge at Studio L3 (sponsored by Simon Says Stamp) is based on Tim Holtz's Shattered Stains technique, found in his new book The Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2.
It's "Anything Goes" week at Simon Says Stamp and Show, so I'm playing along there too. I started with a black tag that I'd added an old dictionary page to, then inked it with Peacock Feathers and Scattered Straw distress inks.
My new distress inks arrived last Friday and I was inky all weekend.... the new blue, especially, is scrumptious. I stamped over that with archival inks, a few flourishes, and some stamps from Tim's Mixed Media background set.
I stamped the journey stamp in black archival ink. Cut the Sizzix gears out of grunge with my Vagabond, did the Shattered Stains technique, and attached with gel medium. Colored and stamped the ticket, added a little word charm, then attached with the Tiny Attacher.
I'll also enter this in the tag challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad. That's it for me. Hope you have a great week!
Marjie

love, love, love the colors you used...and I just bought that stamp set (can't wait to use it). Very cool the way you used the gears & such. And so creative with the top of the tag's ticket -- a refreshing change from the ribbons. Awesome, my friend!

I am loving this one!! I can't wait to get my hands on the new spring colors, that peacock feather blue looks awesome!

I love the gears. I haven't made mine yet. Ironically I just made my sample from Creative Chemistry lat least week but it is lame…certainly not something to add to the challenge. I love that you took something very rugged and used a treatment that makes it look like glass- it is a great juxtaposition.

Hi Marjie
I am sorry I have not been able to visit. Trying to snatch some time to visit friends at the moment and view their art.
Gorgeous intense colours which have become your trademark. Lots of interest with the use of gears.

Marjie...your tag is beautiful! I love the background colors! Tim's Remnants stamp over the top of them really makes them even that much more beautiful! I also love your gears and other added embellishments! Have a fantastic time at AE!!! Wish I was going to be there! Thanks for joining us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy

We were on the same wavelength weren't we? Love this with the new colours (haven't got mine yet). Great stamps and background and love the quote. Guess you just gotta get on a plane to London to have that crafty time with Lucy and I, but you are welcome anytime.
