This week's challenge at Frilly and Funkie is to use kraft and twine on the project of your choice. I've used Kraft Glassine and Burlap String for mine.
I started by covering an oversized tag with book paper, roughing up the edges with Tim's distressor, and warming it up with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Using the Sizzix tag and bookplate die, I cut a sheet of Kraft Glassine. After wrinkling it up I embossed it with a hot air balloon embossing folder by Couture Creations. I played around a bit to have the smaller balloon positioned where it is, then colored parts with distress markers and waterbrushes filled with Dylusions ink sprays.
I cut the ticket and letters from other Sizzix dies and added hitch fasteners to tie down my balloon. The rickrack punch is a favorite. I added it and a few snaps to finish the tag off.
Hope you'll join us in the challenge this week. There will be two prize winners ~ a random one for a store gift certificate to Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique, and a design team favorite. This one's open until midnight on Tuesday, June 12.
I'll also put this in the All Things Tim Holtz yahoo group challenge for June, which has a travel theme.

You have ALL the fun stuff! We've only just got bakers twine in the UK, haven't seen the burlap twine yet. Although I can get hairy string (as for wrapping parcels old style) which may work, although it's not all that strong. I do have the ticket and tag dies though, so I don't feel too jealous, lol. LOVE your balloons and how you've tethered the big one!

Love this! That big fat balloon looks like it could just float away if not for the fact that you've tethered it down so handily! Love the texture here...and the whimsy. Made me smile.
