We're in the second week of our Altered Metals challenge at Frilly and Funkie. There's a $25 store gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique for a random winner, and a blog badge for the design team favorite. All you need to do is alter something metal in any way you choose.
I've used Ranger's metal foil tape and a Sizzix frame die on this layout featuring my sweet niece when she was a wee one. Now she's all grown up and an accomplished violinist. I used Tim's Wordplay die to spell out her name, and embossed the letters with a Sizzix texture fade for added texture. The vines are a Martha Stewart border punch. It's hard to see the black on black in the photo but in real life they run straight up the page and the B on B looks pretty cool.
I used alcohol inks on the metal frame and some torn Rusty Pickle text paper that came close to the photo background. Another touch of metal is the filigree corner (altered with black paint).
Hope you'll join us this week and check out all the other DT samples as well... there's always a great variety in our frilly and funkie styles!

Hi
Such a beautiful photograph Marjie.
The use of metal is wonderful and I do like the frame you created for the photograph and the painted metal corner.
I wonder, are you sending this to your niece?

Beautiful piece, Marije... (I'm so sorry, I somehow missed it as I bloghopped my way round the F&F DT projects - brainstorm, I guess.) Love the script background and the gorgeous, dramatic framing echoing the colour of your niece's lovely hair. Thank you so much for your lovely comment over at Words and Pictures. I'm following you right back - so many super projects here. Look forward to seeing you over at Artistic Stamper too - congratulations on the Guest Designer spot!

Oh how fabulous. Marjie! Your neutrals color palette is terrific - love the black on black. Your altered metal frame is wonderful - I always love using the metal foil tape with alcohol inks. What a precious picture of your niece, definite a layout to be treasured! Such a wonderful take on the altered metal challenge.
