The challenge is Fall Colors this week at Frilly & Funkie. Hope you'll join us! I made this jumbo tag using Tim Holtz's Sizzix leaf die, acrylic paints, distress and archival inks, and Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). I started by cutting several leaves from grunge paper and then embossed them using different Sizzix embossing folders.
I used lots of leftover scraps of grunge to cut the leaves, and then embedded them in gesso. After it dried overnight, I started layering on various Golden fluid acrylics until I got the look I wanted.
I stamped some script here and there and added black archival ink over a flower stencil. I was really tempted to stop there but still needed to 'decorate' so I went to another Sizzix die and favorite set of Tim's stamps, Papillon.
Using manila card stock, I cut the Styled Label, inked and stamped it, then covered with UTEE. Same with the quote, printed on my computer, and another leaf (hit with paint, ink, and UTEE). I made several leaves intending to cluster them:
but then decided a single dangling leaf had more impact:
Linda's rusty metal wire netting adds lots of texture. I cut a piece diagonally and adhered it with copper brads. The quote is hanging onto the wire with redline tape.
Won't you join us at Frilly and Funkie for this color challenge? There's a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique, for a random winner, as well as a blog badge for the design team's favorite. The challenge is open through midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday, October 2nd, and you can make anything at all with fall colors.
I am also linking to Artists in Blogland, and looking forward to their new "Fall Fearless and Fly" challenge which starts on October 1st.
Thanks so much for the visit. Have a great day!
Marjie

Just beautiful, love the colours! Valerie

At first I thought the color was TOO MUCH but the more I looked at it the more I realized that it represents exactly what I think is a perfect fall. Those super vivid- but rare- seasons and trees that just continue to take my breath away until they fade and the leaves fall. I love the juxtaposition of the shiny label on top of all that color and texture.

Totally gorgeous colours on this Marjie! Love all the texture and that mesh is just divine. I need to find out if sending to UK would be too horrendous in terms of cost! Love the leaves but my favourite is the little hanging one - just stunning!

Oh my goodness Marjie, both you and Anita have excelled yourselves with this challenge. Your colours are so exotic and gorgeous and the texture you have created with the leaves is amazing. That hanging leaf just finishes the whole tag off perfectly along with that lovely sentiment. A truly stunning tag. Crafty hugs, Anne x

Love the hanging leaf! Makes me think of the O. Henry story, "The Last Leaf." Are you familiar with it? A good read...
Fabulous, fabulous colors. I especially like the magenta hues...Looks like glorious fall maple...
