Today I'm playing catchup with The Whatevers, a monthly creative prompt issued by Nat Kalbach, Catherine Scanlon, and Vicki Chrisman. These creative gals started this challenge in June and I hopped on board with this page. Then the summer flew by and I'm just now playing along with their July prompt. You can find all the details on the first link, but basically you're to use the given photo in whatever way you like.
I've had the photo on my desk for awhile, wondering what to do with this old fasioned looking gal. Then yesterday my favorite UPS guy showed up with a ton of new Balzer Designs stencils and this background came together really fast.
I left it for a few hours and driving home from errands I heard the song Unwritten on the radio. Love that song! Cranked it up and sang along and suddenly knew exactly what I wanted to do with that photo.
I'll call her Alice, and tell her she needs to Relax & Release Her Inhibitions.
Here's the song: Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield - Lyrics
Thanks for the visit!
Marjie
Edited 9/14: Initially I had linked to a video with the wrong lyrics, and thought I had misquoted the song on my page...so there was a lot more 'story' above explaining what I thought was a mistake... hence some of the comments below!
Supplies: Distress and Archival Inks, Dylusions Ink Sprays, Stencils, Stamps,Tapes
Fab use of color - stunning altered journal pages!

Great journal pages, and it's good to make a song your own, including altering the text! Valerie

You are funny Marjie, but we all sing the wrong lyrics to songs don't we? It's when the karaoke words come up on the screen and you think "Well I never knew that's what they sang"!
Love the depth to your pages, so many details which take my eyes round and round the page.
Hope you are having a good week.
hugs {brenda} xox

Greetings, and thanks for the smile, Alie :-)

You did make me laugh and actually you may have done me a favour too. More of that in a moment. Firstly: your page has energy and drags in the onlooker until you feel you're in the page and looking around a room - the lady could well be a picture on that wall!! Gorgeous blues and stencil stuff too.
To the song: I don't know it but when I saw the bit about not getting bothered by our mistakes (or words to that effect) it put my rubbish crafting of late into perspective and I just thought that I shouldn't worry any more and er, just 'embrace the imperfections'as a certain someone says!!
Thanks Marjie - pity you're not in UK as I need someone who thinks like you - no offence meant to my lovely friends of course! I'm off to be a domestic goddess now as my dearest is due home and I haven't catered for him yet - this was more important!!

Hi Marjie, I just had to listen to the song as I was beginning to doubt myself - glad to hear you were right all along!! Your page is brilliant, love the tones, the stencilling and of course the lady, she really does not look happy or comfortable which I think you have reflected well in the blues.....whateva though, I love it. Crafty hugs, Anne x

Fabulous pages - and so wonderful hearing how it all came about... love your uninhibited crafting, and your innovations!! So glad to get the heads up about the Whatevers - love the idea of getting an image to play with each month... so thank you for that as well as your always inspiring crafting loveliness!

This page is absolutely awesome! Those rays are fabulous. I need to know more about Balzer. Your color is fantastic!!! On the lyrics...she does say inhibitions...is that what you thought??? I'm having a blonde moment.

this is so fun!!! Love the page so much!!! And hehehehe- about the words. Try with a non native speaker who for years thought the lyrics for American Pie were "drove my cherry to the larry but the larry was dry!" no idea what it meant but it sounded cool- LOL ;)

Beautiful pages!!!!!! I love how the rays just pop out from the middle of the pages!!! And yes, you did make me laugh, specially since I am so bad with lyrics! I always make up my own. :)
