This week at Frilly and Funkie our challenge is to use tags in unusual ways and include a Halloween or Autumn theme. Any altered tag project is welcome, as long as you do something a little different and include the seasonal theme. There's a $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique for a random winner, and a blog badge for the design team favorite. I hope you'll join us!
I recently took a class with Julie Fei-Fen Balzer and was inspired by a page in her journal where she embedded three tags like this. (Incidentally, if you can ever take one of Julie's classes.... do! I've taken several of her classess both online and in-person and have never been disappointed.)
I cut off half a page and laid the tags onto the remaining (still in the book) piece at varied depths. I then glued the cut-off half page back on top, sandwiching the tags. Then covered everything with gesso. After brayering over the solid part of the page, I weighted it down and let it dry overnight.
I adhered Tim Holtz's Tissue Wrap to the whole page and spritzed Color Wash in some places. When it was dry, I stamped and stenciled with Ranger's Distress and Archival inks, then tied on Tim's Idea-ology word charms with burlap string. I'm joining the Ranger distress ink challenge with this project, too.
I stamped the witch onto plain white tissue paper and adhered her with matte medium. Before adhering the house (stamped on manila and colored with Distress Markers), I inked all the edges with black paint and coated the whole page with matte medium to dull the shine from the alpha stickers. The arrows are rub-ons and I also added some ribbon and a decorative paper strip.
Can't wait to see what you'll do differently with a tag this week... pop on over to Frilly and Funkie to see all the design team samples, and join us for this fun challenge.

Hey, Anita... I just went back and re-worded the 'how to' to make it more clear. Yes, part of the page was always still attached... I just cut off the outer half of it, then reattached it.

Oh My Marjie! "Don't You Just Hate It When Those Flying Houses Get Lose? Is this what they mean when they say "The Houseing Market Is Falling?" How Funny! Love your journal page, just the perfect colors, great use of tags, and of corse the perfect sentiment!
