Gelatos by Faber-Castell are my new favorite kick for color. They look like little lipsticks and you rub on the color like it's a crayon and then add water:
I use my fingers. After building up the colors with a variety of blues, white, and a purple, I added more color with distress inks and stencils before stamping all my vines in jet black archival:
I cut and stamped flowers, then made a paste with a bit of gelato + water by cutting a tiny bit off the stick and saturating it in water:
I used it to color my flowers, adding variety in the intensity of each. I attached some flat to the page and some raised up on glue dots for dimesion, adding some interest to the centers of most. The letters are Tim's Sizzix alpha Carnivale die.
The package says gelatos are also very good on dark papers, which I haven't tried yet. I'm sharing this with Art Journal Every Day.
